Somsak Pu Ob surprised me in a really good way despite being a little out of the way. Reached the original stall around 7.10pm and they were already sold out. Walked to another nearby branch and only the prawn glass noodles were left, so we tried that instead. Easily the best glass noodles I've had. The flavour was so good we even bought the instant packets to bring home. Cockles were just okay. The glass noodles alone were 9/10

Lives up to the hype - so much flavour! We ordered the roe crab and the prawn vermecelli (from memory, I think there was only the one size available that day for the crab which was a medium - 2 pots comfortably fed 2 people but if you're hungry, you could easily order more) We also came early so there were a few people seated inside but we didn't have to wait. Service is super fast and efficient.

Arguably one of the best baked prawn and crab vermicelli (Goong Ob Woon Sen) dishes you’ll find in Bangkok—or perhaps all of Thailand. Served piping hot in a rustic metal pot, the dish features giant tiger prawns that are incredibly fresh and succulent, layered atop perfectly cooked glass noodles that have soaked up the rich, savory broth beneath. What truly sets this dish apart is the signature sauce—a deeply aromatic blend of soy, sesame oil, white pepper, garlic, and herbs that infuses the noodles with complexity and umami-laden richness. Each bite delivers a balance of seafood sweetness, herbal fragrance, and wok-fired depth. The experience doesn’t stop there—steamed blood clams and green mussels are also available and well worth trying for those craving variety in their seafood spread. Though presentation is humble, the flavor is anything but. Highly recommended for seafood lovers seeking bold, authentic flavors done exceptionally well.

There are actually 2 of the same restaurants both have the same name but apparently they are a family chain. I went to the back streets one. When I arrived I just sat down and ordered the biggest sized crab they had. They had other items on the menu but apparently they aren’t as good as the crab dish. The dish came out and it was amazing. Perfectly cooked crab with glass noodles. Be sure to mix up the noodles with the sauce underneath. Absolutely demolished it. Definitely recommend it.

What they claim as a 'Large' crab pot, for THB1,100. In my books, a crustacean of this size barely qualifies as a small. Very fresh, sweet, firm crab flesh. There wasn't sufficient cooking liquid/sauce for the glass noodle to steam the crab in as well as to soak up. One pot feeds one person. It was good. But just didn't wow me.

If you love crab roe, get the crab roe vermicelli bowl. The roe was insane! So tasty. The noodles were clumped up, which I didn’t particularly enjoy, but I the sauce made up for it. It is a bit salty, so make sure you have some water. Apparently this branch has air conditioning and the other doesn’t, so I’d highly recommend this branch over the other.

I have tried their crab before, so ordered the shrimp today, with the mussels. The mussels were a letdown. Can skip. Although they used basil leaves and a bit of wine, the taste didn't go through and the mussels were so plain and tasteless. Moreover, they failed to clean the mussels, forcing me to clean them before eating them. However, their highlight and signature, the glass noodles, were a bomb! It soaked into all the sauce, making it so full of flavours. I can't have enough of it. The shrimps were huge and fresh. Texture was great. The service was nice and friendly. Prompt too. Place was clean and tidy.

Street-food legend for claypot crab or prawn with glass noodles. The noodles absorb rich crab sweetness, and locals queue for this dish. Typical price: ~฿600 for a claypot crab + noodles (based on local reviews). Best for: seafood lovers, especially crab with glass noodles
